I often like to look at the photos on Time magazine’s website. My first stop is always the ‘Photos of the Week’ feature, which obvsiously showcases the best photos taken in during that week. The first six or seven photos were all rather depressing and grim. Depicting images of terrorists, war, and homeless immigrants. Then came a nice breath of fresh air, Buzz Lightyear flying down the street during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This sounds a bit silly, if not completely silly, but it was a neat photo and threw a bright spot upon all the negative reporting we hear and see all too often. I used to watch the period every Thanksgiving, but I never liked it. Strange? Sure. But it seemed if I didn’t watch I was missing something and was a bad Thanksgiver? So when I woke up this past Thanksgiving I my wife had something on the t.v that wasn’t the parade so I asked if it was on. It was. I changed the channel and didn’t watch one bit of the parade like usual. Thanksgiving felt complete once again.
